You copy real records from a source document across three timed rounds, a field counts only on an exact match, and pasting is disabled. What is a data entry test?
A timed transcription exercise. A source document is shown on screen and you retype it field by field into a form while a clock runs. It measures two things at once — how fast you can move records across, and how many of them arrive intact. This one runs three 60-second rounds over three different record shapes.
How is keystrokes per hour calculated?
Keystrokes divided by seconds, multiplied by 3,600 — that is the raw figure. It is then multiplied by your field accuracy to give the score you are shown, so 10,000 raw KPH at 80% accuracy scores 8,000. Speed bought with errors buys nothing, which is the same arithmetic a back-office team does when work comes back for rekeying.
What KPH do employers ask for?
Back-office and BPO postings commonly state 8,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour, and treat 10,000 and above as fast. The four bands in this test sit around those figures, so a result tells you which side of a typical requirement you land on rather than leaving you to convert from words per minute.
What counts as a correct field?
An exact match to the source — same characters, same case, same spacing, same punctuation. There is no partial credit, because a transposed digit in an account number is a wrong account number. When a field is wrong, the result tells you which of six ways it went wrong: left blank, wrong format, transposed, characters dropped, characters added, or wrong characters.
Can I practise data entry with this test?
Yes, and retaking it is free and unlimited. Each round draws from a different record type — customer records, invoice lines and shipment lines — so practising here is closer to the work than copying a paragraph of prose. Watching which error bucket fills up is usually more useful than watching the KPH figure move.
Is this test free?
